Leonard Von Harrell, age 86, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Bay Special Care Hospital in Bay City, MI.
Visitation Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 4-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, and again on Monday, April 26, 2010 from 9AM until the time of funeral service at 10 AM at Lashley Funeral Home with Pastor Marcel Lamb of the Mio United Methodist Church officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery with military honors offered by Luzerne American Legion Post #162.
Leonard was born on June 10, 1923 to Tipton and Lois Ella (Farmer) Harrell in Thornhill, TN. He served his country during WWII as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps., 90th Station Complement Squadron. Leonard moved to Pontiac where he worked as a supervisor for GMC in Pontiac. After retiring in 1979, he moved to Fairview. Leonard experienced ""The Beauty of the Day"" in nature and watching wildlife. He enjoyed gardening and caring for his dogs.
Surviving are his daughter Saundra (Joel) Harrell-Weinstein of Brooklyn, NY; his sister June (Paul) Murphy of Morristown, TN; his 3 brothers: Samuel Harrell of Lake Orion, MI; Alva (Dee) Harrell of Atlanta, GA; and Joe (Judy) Harrell of Morristown, TN; his former wife Jean Harrell of Oakridge, TN; his close friends and caregivers Tavia & Craig Chicha of Fairview, MI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Dorothy Keck; and his friend & companion Ruth Woodworth.
