Leonard Budnick, age 93 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Leonard was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 20, 1922 to Louis and Anna (Janusch) Budnick. He worked as a Tool & Die Maker and settled in Mio in the early 1970’s. Leonard worked as a custodian and fill-in Bus Driver for Mio AuSable Schools for many years. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was active as an Usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was also a 4th Degree Member of the Mio Knights of Columbus and was active in the Council’s many functions. Leonard was a Franciscan and belonged to the Pau Dua in Indian River.
Leonard is survived by his 4 grandchildren: James Wilson, Michael Wilson, Deanna MacIntyre, and Leonard (Sandy) Wilson; 17 great-grandchildren; his son-in-law Oman Wilson, Jr.; and many great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Adriana; his second wife Delores; his son Leonard Phil Budnick; and his daughter Adriana J. Wilson.
Visitation on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 4 – 9 PM with a Vigil Service offered by St. Mary Parish at 7 PM, followed by a 4th Degree service and Rosary offered by St. Mary’s Assembly #2371 of the Knights of Columbus at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. He will lie in state at St. Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, celebrated by Fr. Santiago Hoyumpa. Interment will follow at Luzerne Cemetery, Luzerne, MI.
