Lena Sherwood

Lena Sherwood of Mio passed away December 23, 2016 at the age of 102. She was born Magdelena Schrott on May 27, 1914 to George and Elizabeth Schrott, one of 10 children in Paris, Michigan. She married Orson Sherwood on May 30, 1930 and together they raised their family in Mio where she was very happy to be a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting and spending time with her family. Lena is survived by her two daughters, Joan Maier and Bobbie (Jim) Willett, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orson, daughter Julia Kilby, son Lee Sherwood and grandson Jerry Willett.
Visitation will be at the Lashley Funeral Home from 3:00-8:00 PM on Thursday December 29, 2016 and the funeral will be held at the Mio United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM Friday December 30, 2016, with Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview Michigan. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to the Michigan Humane Society.
