Mrs. Lena Mary (Bires) Palmer, 96, of Fairview, MI. died Thursday, October 16th, 2008 at The Home at AuSable Valley Community, Fairview, Michigan, formerly of Luzerne. Viewing Sunday 4-9 P.M. at Lashley Funeral Home, Inc and Monday 10-11 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Vigil Prayer Service 7 P.M. Sunday at The Lashley Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 20th, with Father Raymond Cotter officiating.

Lena was a Home maker who enjoyed quilting and needle work. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St Mary Altar Society and a former member of The Women's Fellowship of Emma Lowery Congregational Church, Luzerne.

Lena is survived by: a daughter, Susan (Richard) Schramm of Luzerne; a son, Robert (Debbie) Palmer of Grovetown, Georgia; two step daughters, Betty (Ed) Knauf of Mio, Charlotte (Clancy) Avery of Mio; 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Lena is also survived by her sister, Helen and brother, George.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Dudley Palmer; Brothers and Sisters: Frank, Emily, John, Ann, Mary, Joe, Andy, Mike, and three Grandchildren.
