Lee Orson Sherwood, 67 of Mio, MI, peacefully passed into eternal life with his Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at his home in Sarasota, FL.
Born on May 17, 1944 he was the son of Orson (deceased) and Lena Sherwood.
Lee is survived by his wife Ellen (Dennis) Sherwood, three daughters Laura (Sherwood) Williams and her husband Doug of Lewiston, MI, Sarah (Sherwood) Wolfe and her husband Ken of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, and Jessica (Sherwood) Liimatta and her husband Oke of Fredericksburg, VA and one son, Scott Sherwood and his wife Mona of Neenah, WI.  His mother, Lena Sherwood and three sisters Joanie Maier, Roberta Willett, and Julia Kilby. Five grandchildren, Nick Wolfe, Tiana Wolfe, Hannah Sherwood, Alex Sherwood and Melissa Williams.
Lee graduated from Mio AuSable High School, Alpena Community College, and Michigan State School of Forestry. He was a Forester for Abitibi Corporation, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, and retired as forester for the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Lee married his High School sweetheart, Ellen Dennis, and became the proud father of 4 children. Lee played all of the high school sports and after graduation continued to play on a softball league and a bowling league for several years.
He was an active member of the Catholic Church serving on various committees and boards, and served as a Lector and Extra-Ordinary minister.  Lee became a member of the Charismatic Movement in 1976 and Lee and Ellen opened their home to weekly prayer meetings.  Lee served the Charismatic Renewal on the local, diocesan, and state levels.
Many people in Mio will remember him as the Mentor Township Clerk.
Upon retirement Lee and Ellen decided to make Sarasota, FL their winter home with their summer home at Perry Lake in Oscoda County.
Visitation 1-4 and 6-9 PM Friday, December 2, 2011, with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7 PM followed by a Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, with Father Larry Sergott officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery Mio, Michigan.
