Larry Ray Kersten, age 76, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015, due to the complications of several illnesses. Larry was born June 19, 1939 in Berville, Michigan, to Ralph and Bernice (Stephens) Kersten and graduated from Almont High School in 1957. He was a resident of Oscoda County for over 30 years and was recently living in Grayling. Larry was active in the Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since March 25, 1973, volunteering much of his time to helping people in the community understand the Bible. He loved his family, friends, and congregation very much, and they cherish his positive attitude and giving spirit. He also liked to snowmobile, golf with his grandsons, read, play cards until no one would play anymore, and travel whenever he could. He enjoyed his work as a Pharmacist for 50 years, mostly in Oscoda county and surrounding areas.
Surviving are his daughters: Beth (John) Kossak, Kathy (Jonathan) Gohl, and Kora (Doug) Berney; three grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Devin) Cymbalski, Joshua Gohl, and Jeron Berney; his sister Alma Mosher; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Louie and Sharlene Hintz; many nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by the love of his life, his dear wife Geraldine; his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Conference Center, 2650 S. I-75 Business Loop, Grayling, Mi. The family will receive guests starting at noon and during a light lunch afterwards.
