Kenneth D. Bliss

Kenneth Dean Bliss, age 79, of Mio, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Visitation Friday, March 12, 2010 from 1-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with a Masonic Service being offered at 7 P.M. Funeral Service at 11 A.M. on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Lashley funeral Home, Mio, with Pastor Al Eastman officiating, Military Honors by The Luzerne American Legion Post # 162. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
Kenneth was born on September 13, 1930 in Owosso, Michigan. He joined the US Naval Reserve in November, 1947. He graduated from Owosso High School in 1948. Kenneth then joined the regular Navy in October of 1948. He served in the Navy until retiring in November of 1968. He moved to Mio in April of 1969. He worked for several years as a janitor for Kneeland Industries, then at Mio AuSable Schools as a bus driver since 1977. Kenneth was a member and past president of Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 358 of Oscoda, MI; past commander of VFW Post 4126 & Life Member of VFW Post 4159 of Roscommon; member and past chaplain of American Legion Post#162 of Luzerne, MI; member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #851 of Owosso, MI; member of Whidby Island Lodge #15 F&AM of Whidby Island, Washington; a member of the Mio Masonic Lodge # 596 F&AM and member of AASR Consistory Valley of Bay City, MI. Kenneth enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and going to the casino.
Kenneth is survived by his special friends the Stodart Family and by Mick & Irene Berger. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters: Shirley Coom and Dorothy McNew.
