Kathy Richards

Kathy L. (Boerner) Richards, age 55 of Houghton Lake, MI, formerly of Mio, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at her home.
Kathy was born on April 21, 1957 in West Branch, Michigan to Roy and Jean (Maier) Boerner.  She graduated from Mio High School with the Class of 1975 and married Gerald ""Bud"" Richards on September 27, 1980 at the Mio United Methodist Church in Mio.  Kathy and Bud had worked at Glenâ??s Market before moving to Houghton Lake, where she worked as a dental assistant for 18 years at Houghton Lake Dentistry for Dr. Bob Pacella.  Kathy enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, gardening, doing jigsaw puzzles, being in the woods, taking long walks, listening to music, and snow-shoeing in the winter.  She will be remembered as a loving wife and as a devoted and loving mother, who always had a beautiful smile.
Surviving are her husband Gerald ""Bud"" Richards of Houghton Lake, MI; her sons: Justin C. Richards of Cadillac, MI, and Brandon D. Richards of Mio, MI; her father Roy Boerner of Mio, MI; sister Rebecca (Kenneth) DesArmo; brothers: Michael Boerner and Robert Boerner; her goddaughter Lauren DesArmo; and also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her mother Jean Boerner in 2004.
Visitation Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI from 1-4 and 6-9 PM, and also on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM, at the Mio United Methodist Church, Mio, MI with Pastor Terry Brooks officiating. Interment at Mentor Township  Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
