Karen Ruth Flansburg

Karen Ruth Flansburg, age 61, of Mio, MI passed away on July 31, 2020 at the Mid Michigan Medical Center- Midland.  Karen was born to Rodger and Lorraine (Dolata) Wheatley on August 11, 1958. She spent her childhood in Hazel Park and North Branch, where she graduated high school in 1976. Karen was the proud owner of Oxford Fabrics and settled in Metamora with her husband Steven Lee Flansburg for 15 years until they moved to Mio in 2005. In Mio, Karen was able to fulfill her dream of owning a campground until her passing on July 31, 2020. Karen is survived by her mother Lorraine Wheatley, sister Linda (Alan) Martin, brother Mark (Susan) Wheatley, husband Steven Flansburg, daughters Ruth (Justin) Wood, Elizabeth (Tony) Roberts, Robin Flansburg (Corey Lesniak), Stevie (Daniel) Smith, "son" Harley Stanley, grandchildren Dominic, Jozlynn, Maci, Emmitt, David, Alexander, James, and Hazel. Karen also leaves behind her many nephews, nieces, cousins, and a community of people who knew and loved her as "Mom". Karen was welcomed to heaven by her father, Rodger Wheatley, godson Michael Kritzman, and granddaughter Marie Flansburg. Karen’s family had a small private viewing before cremation on August 1, and a Celebration of Life Service will be announced once restrictions are lifted.
