Julia E. Gusler

Julia E. Gusler, age 87, of Comins, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Home at AuSable Valley Community in Fairview.
Visitation Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 5-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, and again from 2 P.M. until the time of Funeral Service at 3 P.M. on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Comins Mennonite Church, Comins, MI with Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery.
Julia was born on November 7, 1922 to Charles and Anna (McMahan) Barnes on the family farm where she was raised in Comins. She graduated from Fairview High School. and married Norman ""Sammy"" Gusler on July 4, 1943 in Romeo, MI. She was a lifetime member of the Comins Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the church sewing group and had worked as a cook at the AuSable Valley Nursing Home for many years. Julia enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, watching birds, and tending her flower gardens.
Julia is survived by her children: Norma Jean Berney of Fairview; Nancy Ann (Larry) Bugg also of Fairview; James Corwin Gusler of Charlevoix, MI; and Rodney Dean Gusler also of Charlevoix, MI; her 8 grandchildren: Caymi, Matt, Julie, Todd, Jeff, Jason, Cory, and Michael; and her 8 great-grandchildren: Nicole, Addison, Tiffany, Nicholas, Taylor, Joshua, Kiersten, and Landon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman ""Sammy"" Gusler in 1983; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
