Mrs. Joy Lee Staelgraeve, 70, of Mio, passed away Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 at her residence.
Visitation Friday 1-9 PM with Vigil Prayer Service followed by a KofC Auxiliary Rosary at 7:00 PM Friday at The Lashley Funeral Home. Joy will lay in state at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 10 AM until the time of The Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:00 AM, with Father Raymond Cotter officiating. Cremation will follow with Gaveside Service and interment of Ashes at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM.
Joy was born on September 27, 1939 in Monroe, MI to the late Walter & Eleanor (Poupard) Windels. She graduated from Monroe High School Class of 1957 and married Robert J. Staelgraeve on May 2, 1959 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. Joy had been an active member of The Christian Mothers Club of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee, MI. She was a homemaker and had also worked as a receptionist in several area doctor's offices. Joy and Bob moved to Mio, MI in late 1992 from Maybee, MI, wintering in Bartow, FL. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio where she served as Eucharistic Minister. Joy was a member of the Mio KofC Auxiliary, Ladies of the Moose Mio Chapter #68, Luzerne American Legion Post # 162 and The Mio Red Hat Society. She enjoyed volunteering her time and talents and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband Robert J. Staelgraeve; 5 children: Mary (Jeff) Bonk of Dunedin, FL, Anita (Tim) Heath of Milan, MI, Michael (Kim) Staelgraeve of Britton, MI, Robert Staelgraeve of Maybee, MI and Robyn (Brian) Pitock of Carleton, MI; 3 sisters: Marlene Miller, Norma Foster and Judy (Robert) Cloum all of Monroe; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
