Joseph R. Mcmanus

Joseph (Joe) McManus, 95 years young and formerly of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona after a long illness.

Joe and his twin brother George, and their brother William, were born in Sparta, Illinois.  He served in the Navy from 1943-1946, honorably discharged.  Joe graduated from Chicago Technical College, Wayne State University Labor School (Detroit, Mich.), and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Monteith College.  Joe was a skilled worker and a long-time active member and executive officer of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) in various Michigan councils.  From 1970-1984, Joe taught Labor Relations at Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Alice, step-daughter Jacquelyn Strablow, step-sons Allen Bensal, Dale (Kathy) Bensal of Michigan, and step-son Michael Bensal of Washington, nephew William McManus of Texas, niece Donna (Charles) Hill of Indiana, and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa, brothers William and George, and parents Joseph and Daisy McManus

Cremation has taken place per the family's wishes
