Joseph Peter Barkatt

Joseph P. Barkatt, age 81 of Curran, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Joseph was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 23, 1936 to Joseph and Margaret (Waked) Barkatt. He married Linda in 1966. They were married for 42 years until her passing in 2006. They had lived in Shelby Twp., MI until settling in Curran in 1998. Joseph had owned and operated Bishop Metals in Warren, MI. He was a member of the Comins Eagles. He had enjoyed going to the casinos, playing poker, and fishing.

Joseph is survived by his children: Richele Barkatt of Curran, MI; Tanya (Daniel) McWilliams of Glendale, AZ; Michael Barkatt of the U.K.; and Joseph Barkatt of Roseville, MI; his sister Joan (Robert) Snowden of Warren, MI; his grandchildren: Blake Snyder of Curran, MI; Anthony (Paula) McWilliams of Arizona: and Michael (Miranda) McWilliams, also of Arizona; 5 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Charlotte Barkatt and Rose Barkatt; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Linda Barkatt; 3 brothers: Richard, James, and George; and his sister-in-law Shirley.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
