Jonathan P. Bolger, Sr., age 81 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
Jonathan was born in Bay City, Michigan on July 7, 1943 to Bill and Ruth (Hale) Bolger. He spent much of his youth at his family’s secondary home in Kneeland, where he spent many of his days fishing at Perry Creek. He graduated from Bay City Central High School class of 1962. He served his country in the Army 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles”, at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Jon graduated from Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan with a graphics art degree. He used his talents in art and design in many ways: he was a medical illustrator at Vanderbilt Hospital, he owned Perry Creek Graphics, and published a book with his mother, titled “Rural Route 1 America”. He constructed a home for his family in Kneeland in 1986. Jon loved the outdoors, especially fishing. He enjoyed horses in his younger days and greatly loved animals. When he was younger, he was a great roller skater; he always loved having a good time, especially when there was live music and dancing. He also loved to tell stories at the local coffee table. Jon was very proud of his family and loved bragging about all of his grandkids.
Jonathan is survived by his wife of 50 years Helen Bolger, his children: Lisa (Matt) Shastal of Laingsburg, MI and Paul (Shana) Bolger of Suttons Bay, MI, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Ruth Bolger.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.
