John M. Tripp

The man. The myth. The legend.

John Michael Tripp, 65, passed away suddenly on February 24th, 2020.

John was born on June 29th, 1954 to Howard "Bud" Beardsley and Gretchen Adell (Marz) Tripp in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He grew up in Plymouth, Michigan and was the third (and favorite, if you ask him) of five beautiful children. Everyone loved hearing his stories about his adventurous childhood! He graduated from Plymouth High School (1972) and worked in manufacturing, where he met his wife, Deborah Ann (Ertman), in 1984. The soulmates married on a beautiful sunny day in Plymouth, on August 29th, 1987, blending two families into one.

John joined his best friend and brother, Glenn Joseph Tripp, parents, Howard and Gretchen, and father-in-law, Floyd Ira Ertman, in Heaven. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Deborah; sons John Arthur (and wife, Sarah) and Jeffrey Michael Tripp (and wife, Marian); daughter Martha Kristine Boesen; granddaughters McKenzie Kristine Boesen, Madeline Joy Tripp, and baby girl Tripp (expected July 2020); brothers Dan Howard (and wife, Kimberlee) and Douglas Stephen Tripp (and wife, Nancy); sister Teresa Ann Ward; and many more friends and family.

John loved his family and friends fiercely, and always treated people with respect. He loved watching University of Michigan sports, enjoying a beer or two, listening to music and playing harmonica, fishing, storytelling, and making memories. This short notice cannot express everything he was, all that he meant to those who loved him, or how much he will be missed.

Visitation Friday 3:00 - 8:30 PM , with a Vigil Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 9:00 until the time of The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated at at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, at 10:00 AM with Reverend Santiago Hoyumpa officiating. In accordance with John's wishes, cremation will follow the Mass.
