John Donald Sager

Mr. John Donald Sager, age 70, of Lake in the Greens, Barton City, MI, formerly of Ahmeek, MI, passed away Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 at his residence.
Visitation Thursday 1-4 and 6-9 PM. at The Lashley Funeral Home and Friday, July 25th, 2008 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 AM at The Sunnyside United Methodist Church, Curran, with Pastor Brenda K. Klacking officiating. Interment in Mitchell Township Cemetery, Curran.
John was was born on Oct. 8, 1937 in Calumet, MI.
He retired as a bowsman's mate from the U.S. Coast Guard and was honorably discharged in 1965. He lived in Ahmeek Village, MI until he married Alice on 1987 at Lake in the Greens in Barton City, MI where they resided and where John and Alice were active in the activities and Lakes in the Greens organization. John had owned and operated his own painting and pest control businesses and was well known for his artistry in woodworking: fashioning custom collectible toys such as cars, trucks, bulldozers etc. He had attended The Sunnyside United Methodist Church in Curran, and was a self taught 'Bible Scholar"" active in Bible reading, study and discussion groups.
John is survived by his wife Alice C. (Collar) Sager, his step children: Linda (Don) Hanishewsky, James (Cathy) Murphy, Kathleen P. Ritter of Australia, Michael D. (Gail) Doyle of Berkley, MI, James P. Doyle of Barton City, MI; four sisters, Barbara Kezele of Ahmeek, MI, Beatrice (Edmund) Beauchamp of Hubbell, MI, Marcella (Martin) Niemi of Nevada, Judith Hatala of Laurium, MI
three brothers, Joseph (Brud) Sager of Ahmeek, MI, Jean (Pat) Sager of Ahmeek, MI, Benedict Sager of Ahmeek, MI. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph B. and Beatrice L. (Benney) Sager, his former wife Patricia,brother Donald Sager and sisters Rosella Karna and Dorothy Baldessaari step daughter Carolann and brothers-in-law John Kezele and Ted Hatala.
