John "Jack" W. Gunn

John Gunn passed away peacefully at home, with family by his side, on Monday, March 30, 2026. He was born in Flint, MI on July 20, 1929 to the late John and Dorothy (Hammel) Gunn. John grew up in Mio, MI before joining the Army in 1951.

He married the love of his life, Lillian, on August 22, 1955. John and Lillian raised their family in Mt. Morris, MI before relocating back to Mio.

John enjoyed old cars and collecting antiques. He loved fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was also an avid reader. John was devoted to the Lord. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mio, MI, the VFW, and the American Legion.

John is survived by his children, Lorna Carpenter (Randy), Lori Merrill (John), and Susan (Chris) Hope, four grandchildren, and four beautiful great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Gunn, sons, John and Chris, daughter, Diana, brother, Ron, and sister, Shirley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at Lashley Funeral Home in Mio, MI, with the funeral service at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at Kittle Cemetery in Mio, MI.
