John Allen Griffiths Mr. John Allen Griffiths, age 73, of Luzerne, passed away Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Grayling. Visitation Friday, October 23, 2009 at The Lashley Funeral Home, Mio from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, with members of the Luzerne American Legion Post # 162 officiating. Cremation will follow, with interment of ashes and Military Honors at the Luzerne Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2009. John was born on August 11, 1936 in Detroit, MI to John & Ina (Howe) Griffiths. He served his country in The U.S. Army during the Korean War. John married Dolores M. (Puzan) on February 11, 1966 in Troy, Mi. The couple lived in Clawson where John worked for General Motors, Chevrolet Gear and Axle Plant in Hamtramck and had served as past master of the Kilwinning Masonic Lodge # 297 in Detroit. The couple moved to Fairview in 1974 where they owned and operated the Fairview Motor Court for 11 years. They later settled in Luzerne where they purchased the Luzerne Mini -Mart which they ran for 17 years until retiring in 2000. John was a member of the Luzerne American Legion Post # 162, The Mio VFW Post # 4126, Comins Eagles Aerie #3544 and The Mio Moose Lodge # 1035. Surviving are his wife Dolores Marie (Puzan) Griffiths; a son, Brian (Ruby) Evans of Rochester, MI; grandson Dax John (Sonia) Evans of Lake Orion, MI and an extra special great granddaughter Paigie Evans, who will dearly miss her ""Poppy""; a sister, Kathleen (Peter) Jonko of Sterling Heights, MI; a brother, Joseph (Barbara) Griffiths of Forestwood, CO and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Phyllis Szyszlo. Memorials may be made to the Luzerne American Legion Post # 162, Legion Drive, Luzerne, MI 48636.
