John William (Jack) Eiden
Mr. John William (Jack) Eiden, 79, of Mio, passed away Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 in the loving arms of his children at his home.
Visitation Friday 3-9 PM at The Lashley Funeral Home, with Prayer Vigil Service 7 PM, by Fr. Joseph A. Blasko, followed by 4th Degree K of C Service and Rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, MI, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 2nd, with Father Joseph A. Blasko officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery , Mio. Military honors offered by the Luzerne American Legion Post # 162.
Jack was born on May 19, 1928 in Scranton, PA to the late Henry & Madeline (Albrecht) Eiden. He served his Country in the U.S. Army as a Cpl. in the Korean War. On Jan. 31, 1959 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth A. "" Betty"" ( Gardner) Eiden in St. Rita's Catholic Church in Holly, MI. Together they raised six children: Daughters: Joan (Dan) Rozman of Marquette, MI; Janet (Patrick) Taylor of Greenville, SC; Lori (Joel) Taylor of Goodrich, MI; Lisa (Jeffery) Jennings of West Bloomfield, MI and Amy Eiden of Davisburg, MI and Son: John Mark (Lisa) Eiden of Traverse City, MI. They were later blessed with nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Carol Eiden. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, brothers Joseph, Harold and Norbert Eiden and sisters: Rebecca Eiden and Marie Peoples.
Jack was the retired owner and operator, along side Betty, of J. Eiden Equipment Company in Clarkston, MI, for more than 17 years, from 1971 until his retirement in 1989 when the couple moved to Mio. Jack was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Mio and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus , St. Mary Assembly #2371, Mio. His dedication to his faith and his family, was an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
