Jay Fremont Smith

Jay Fremont Smith, age 59, of Lewiston, MI, passed away at home on Saturday, July 12th, 2025. He was born in West Branch, MI on November 15, 1965 to the late Bettye (Replogle) and George Smith Jr.

Jay was an active member of the McGregor Athletic Complex and was an avid fisherman. Jay loved camping, always finding the time to pack a bag and stop for the night.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Toni (Balsis) Smith; sister, Susan Smith; step-children, Britiany (Tory Freas) Balsis and Rhiannon Balsis; grandchildren, Kaden and Ian Balsis-Freas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Smith.

A funeral service will be held at Lashley Funeral Home in Mio, MI on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton, MI.
