Mrs. Janie Ruth Klimmek, age 99, of Mio, Michigan, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at her home.
Janie was born on March 31, 1912 in Rogersville, Tennessee to William Park & Elizabeth Artimisie (Wells) Armstrong. She attended East Tennessee State College where she received her teaching certification. Janie taught school in Rogersville and Hawkins County for 15 years before marrying Fred J. Klimmek on March 26, 1948. The couple moved to Mio in 1949 where Janie worked as a homemaker and farmer along with her husband Fred, later working with him as owner and operator of Fred Klimmek Sales and Service. Janie was a member of Emma Lowery United Church of Christ in Luzerne, Michigan where she was member of the Womenâ??s Fellowship and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and flowers, especially raising African Violets.
Surviving are her son David (Cathy) Klimmek of Mio, MI; her sisters: Elsie Davis and Susan Horton, both of Rogersville, TN; her grandchildren: Amy Maroney (Sells) and Phill Klimmek; and her great- grandchildren: Ashleigh Maroney, Cassondra Maroney, and BrookeAnn Maroney. Janie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred Klimmek, her daughter Barb Boudro, and her sister Willie Armstrong.
Visitation Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 3-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI and again on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 from Noon until funeral service at 1 PM at Mio Church of God, Mio, MI, with Pastor Mike Stadelmayer officiating. Interment at Luzerne Cemetery, Luzerne, MI.
