James Yoder, age 69 of Comins, Michigan, passed away at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland, Michigan on Sunday, September 11, 2016.



James was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 16, 1947 to Joseph and Donna (Edwards) Yoder. He moved to Fairview, MI at the age of 8. James married Claudia Emig on July 18, 1964 in Comins, MI. The couple raised their family in Comins. James worked at Hoskins for 27 years. He was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church and was a coach and mentor for the Fairview Fast-Pitch Softball League. James enjoyed sports and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He especially enjoyed quilting and made quilts for his grandchildren.



James is survived by his wife Claudia of Comins, MI; his children: Bill (Nikki Morisett) Yoder of Comins, MI; Shena (Jim) Weaver of Comins, MI; and Shane (Kim) Yoder of Pigeon, MI; his grandchildren: Spencer (Lacy) Weaver, Stephen (Brianna) Weaver, Kayla (Devin) Layman, Alexis, Haley, Chantz, Joshua, Steven, Jordan, Brianna, and Nikkita; and his great-grandchildren: Trenten, Katrina, Levi, Jaxx, Trinity, and Decklynn. He is also survived by his sisters: Cheryl (Dave) Bugg and Gwen (Percy) Gibson; his father and mother-in-law Frank & Gloria Emig; and many nieces and nephews.



Visitation on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 2 – 5 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, with Funeral Services at 5 PM with Steve Gusler officiating. Interment at Clinton Township Cemetery, Comins, MI.
