Mr. James F. Dennis, age 76, of Mio, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw.
Visitation Wednesday, November 14, 2007 from 5-9 P.M., with a Prayer Vigil Service at 7 PM followed by The 4th Degree K of C Rosary. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Raymond Cotter officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, with Military Honors by Luzerne American Post # 162.
Mr. Dennis was born on Sept. 3, 1931 in Ingham County to the late Clifford & Frances Dennis. He served his country in the US Army during The Korean War, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He married Germaine on October 15, 1955 in West Branch. They moved to Mio in 1956 where Jim worked for General Telephone as the only telephone technician for Oscoda County. He later worked for Top of Michigan and Farm Bureau Insurance Agency, before opening James F. Dennis Insurance Agency in Mio. Jim was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and charter member of The Mio Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of The Woods Council #7329, serving as their first Grand Knight.
Mr. Dennis is survived by his wife Germaine; his daughter: Ellen (Lee) Sherwood of Mio; daughter in law: Virginia Dennis of St. Ignace; 6 grandchildren: Laura (Doug) Williams, Scott (Mona) Sherwood, Sarah (Ken) Wolfe, Jessica Sherwood, David (Alicja) Dennis and Paul (Aretha) Dennis; 7 great grandchildren; I sister: Carol and 1 brother: Dan. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Dennis and brothers Don, Cliff and Ken Dennis.
Memorials may be made to Our Lady of The Woods Shrine Endowment Fund or Right to Life of Michigan.
