James F. Colson

James F. Colson, age 83 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 23, 2018.

James was born in Newpoint, Indiana on August 28, 1935. He graduated from Pinconning High School with the Class of 1953. He married Cora "Cookie" on November 26, 1955. The couple lived in Bay City and settled in Linwood, Michigan where they raised their family. James worked as a Millwright for General Motors, Saginaw Manufacturing. The couple retired to Mio in 1990. James was a Life Member of the NRA. He was a Ham Radio Operator. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and camping; and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and sportsman. He will be remembered as a genuine prankster, and as a faithful & honest friend.

James is survived by his children: James Colson, Jr. of Traverse City, MI; Jeffrey (Rebecca) Colson of Lapeer, MI; Jill (Steve) Vasquez of Kawkawlin, MI; and Jodi (Jerry) Johnson of Mio, MI; his sisters: Louise Miller and Christine Pozenal, both of Bay City, MI; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Cora "Cookie", his sister Jeanne Cunningham, and his mother and stepfather: Helen and Melvin Preston. He was also preceded in death by 5 generations of Black Labs named "Pokey", his Chocolate Lab "Brandy", and his cat "Sam".

Visitation on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5 – 8 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan, and also on Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 11 AM until Funeral Services at 12 Noon with Rev. Glynn McMorris officiating. Interment will follow the services at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
