Jack Lewis Freer

April 21, 1953 — February 20, 2025

Jack Lewis Freer, beloved Husband, Father, Grand Father, Great-Grand Father and Friend passed away on February 20, 2025 in Fairview Michigan.

Jack was born on April 21, 1953 in Mason Michigan and grew up in Dansville Michigan where he attended and graduated from Dansville Agricultural School.  Jack learned welding at Lansing Community College and took on a Pipefitting Apprenticeship through Local UA 190 where he became a Journeyman Pipefitter.  He worked all over the state until he retired in1996 due to an injury. Jack and Lora moved to Fairview from Dansville in 1991 to create a new community of friends and neighbors.

Jack was a passionate Fisherman (some might say obsessive). He created “Camp Grandpa” because he loved spending time with and providing adventures for his grandchildren.   He was known to fabricate, invent, and fix tools and machinery for friends and neighbors.  He was a great conversationalist and loved regaling anyone with stories of his adventures which were many.  Jack, Son Paul and many friends through the AuSable Valley Engine and Tractor Club enjoyed restoring Antique heritage tractors. He was a deep thinker and a spiritual man.  He welcomed every opportunity to help friends, family and strangers.  He will be missed by many.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by Wife Lora (Resler), Son Paul (Kim) Freer, Daughter Amy (Brooke) Davis, Grandchildren Racheal (A.J.) Wodraska, Devin Mick, Rose Freer, Aaron Freer, Great-Grand Daughter Evelynne Wodraska, Brother Tim Freer, nieces, nephews and countless other family members, Thompson and Resler In-laws and friends.

He was preceded in death by Wife Margaret (Thompson), Parents Lewis and Genevieve Freer Father and Mother-in-law Art and Shirley Thompson, Father-in-Law Argel Resler and Brother-in-Law Tom Resler. No Funeral services will be held at this time. A Memorial Service is being planned for May 24, 2025, time and place to be announced. Memorials may be made to Oscoda  Conservation District, P.O. Box 820, Mio MI 48647, (989) 217-1368.

These arrangements were handled by Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan.
