Iren Kocis

Iren Kocis, age 74 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
Iren was born in Rusko Szelo, Yugoslavia on October 6, 1940 to Janos and Erzsebet (Monastori) Csuszo. She married Rudolf Kocis there and their family moved to the US in 1967, settling in Detroit, MI. They moved to Mio in 1977, where Iren owned and operated “Iren’s Kitchen”. She later worked for Mio AuSable Schools in Food Service, retiring after 22 years of service. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, baking, and crocheting. Her family was most precious to her and she was at her happiest when her family was all together.
Iren is survived by her husband Rudolf Kocis, Sr. of Mio, MI; her children: Ann Haberlog of Ypsilanti, MI; Erzsebet “Liz” (John) Sheffer of Mio, MI; and Zoltan (Sheila) Kocis of Pinkney, MI; her daughter-in-law Lucretia Kocis of St. Clair Shores, MI; 10 grandchildren: Lora (Steve), Jackie (Jenn), Andrea (Brent), Shelley (Ryan), Amy (Andy), Kassie, Tracy, Morgan (Mack), Amber (Steve), and Taylor; 6 great grandchildren: Nathan, Memphis, Tyler, Clayton, Aubry, and Kendall; and her special close friend Vickie Gammey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Rudolf Kocis, Jr.; her son-in-law Richard Haberlog; and her brothers Ferenc, Antal, and Janos.
Visitation on Friday, October 17, 2014 from 2-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan; and again from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM on Saturday, October 18, 2014 also at Lashley Funeral Home, with Pastor Ron Carter officiating. Interment follows at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, Michigan.
