Howard R. Genaw, 85, a beloved local masonry contractor and dedicated member of the church, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Howard was known for his exceptional skill in masonry, which contributed to many of the area's buildings and homes. His craftsmanship and commitment to his work earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. His service and leadership in his church were a testament to his deep faith and dedication.
An avid hunter and lover of the great outdoors, Howard spent many joyful hours in nature, where his sense of humor and zest for life were always evident. He brought laughter and light to those around him, whether through his playful banter or his stories of adventure.
Howard is survived by his children: Tonya Layman (Clark Handrich), Marge Wojciechowski (Conrad), Howard Jr., and Traci Doran. He was a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren: Hanna Layman (Thomas Eversole), Devin Layman (Kayla), Megan Neisen (Chris), Caleb W (Brittany), and Josh W (Ashley) and a proud great-grandfather to twelve great-grandchildren. Preceded in death was his wife, Cecelia (Cece).
Howard’s legacy of love, faith, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at Tri-Point Church in Mio on 8/10/24 at 1pm, where his spirit and contributions will be honored. Visitation will be 11:00am-1:00pm same day.
Interment will follow at Kittle Cemetery Mio, MI.
