Helen Matson

Helen"" Eraine"" Matson, age 87, of Fairview, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009, at The Home at AuSable Valley Community, Fairview. Committal Service at 1 PM, Monday, December 7, 2009 at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, with Pastor Marcel Lamb of the Mio United Methodist Church officiating. Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
Eraine was born on May 12, 1922 in Saginaw, MI to Earl and Bessie Jacques. She was a sister to Thelma and Marion. Eraine attended Mio AuSable High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. She married Burr A. ""Bud"" Matson of Mio in 1942. Eraine was a former member of the Mio Moose Lodge. She was an avid reader, who also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, playing euchre and crocheting. She loved walking in the woods, too.
Surviving are her husband Burr A. Matson; her daughter Mary Marvel Matson of Florida; her son Mark Earl (Maureen Quinn) Matson of Perry, MI; her grandchildren: Jacquie Flammia, Tom Lemeau, Lisa Lemeau, Patrick Lemeau, Matt Matson, Kristina Matson-Lechler, Joel E. Matson, and Carrie Matson-Flynn. She also leaves behind 10 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
