Hedwige R. ""Hedda"" Kacarka, age 93, of Jackson, Mississippi, formerly of Mio, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at The Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
Visitation Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 5-8 P.M. at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, with a Vigil Service at 7 P.M. offered by St. Mary Parish; and again from 10A.M. until time of the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 27, 2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio, with Father Raymond Cotter officiating. Interment at Mio Cemetery.
Hedda was born on February 20, 1916 in Hamtramck, MI to Stanley and Mary (Kajorski) Korycinski. She owned and operated her own coffee restaurants in Detroit and in Mackinaw City. Hedda retired to Mio where she was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Mio Rebekah Lodge. Hedda moved to Jackson, Mississippi in September of 2001. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting, dancing, and singing.
Hedda is survived by her sons: George (Sandra) Kacarka of Jackson, Mississippi, and Edmund (Cathy) Kacarka of Shelbyville, Tennessee; her sisters: Laura Bojanowski of Idaho; Julie Krug of Michigan; and Helen Anderson of Michigan; her brother Stanley Kory of Michigan;and her grandchildren: Stanley, Deborah, Jeremiah, Aaron, Julia, Adam, Stacey, Kari, Stephanie, and Janiece. She is also survived by 11 great grandchildren, 3 great -great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Hedda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edmund Kacarka, and her brother and sisters: Josie, Mary, Stella, and Edward.
