Hazel E. Phetteplace, age 92 of Curran, Michigan, passed away in East Tawas, Michigan on Monday, June 19, 2017.
Hazel was born in Curran, Michigan on December 13, 1924 to Philo and Etta (Pearsall) Wiedbrauk. She married Ray Phetteplace in Alma, Michigan. The couple lived in Curran, where Hazel was a homemaker and also worked at the Post Office. She was a member of the Mitchell Township Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, and had also served on the Mitchell Township Zoning Board. Hazel was an amateur historian as well. She published a historical book on the history of Mitchell Township.
Hazel is survived by her children: Ray Jr. (Cyndie) Phetteplace of Collierville, TN; David (Gaylene) Phetteplace of Phoenix, AZ; and Benjamin Phetteplace of Roseville, MI; 2 brothers: Mike Wiedbrauk and Curt (Mickey) Wiedbrauk; 4 grandchildren: Ray III, Robin, Jessie, and Shelly; and 3 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Mason, and Gwyneth. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ray Phetteplace, her sister Marilyn, and her brother Harry.
Visitation on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 1 – 9 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI, and again on Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church, Mio, MI, with Pastor John Manning officiating. Interment will follow at Flynn Valley Cemetery, Curran, Michigan.
