Mrs. Gretchen May (Henrich) Taylor, age 95, of Comins, MI, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011, at her home. Gretchen was born on September 14, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan to Carl C. and Alma K. (Rentz) Henrich. She graduated from Southeastern High School. Gretchen attended Beauty School and became a Beautician. She married Martin Taylor, and the couple and their family moved to Comins in 1956 from Detroit. Gretchen worked as Head Cashier at Glen's Market for many years. She was a member of the Comins Eagles, Mio Eastern Star, Mio Rebekahs, the Wild Turkey Trotters, and Comins Mennonite Church. Gretchen enjoyed quilting, playing cards, line dancing, beading, cooking, and ceramics.
She is survived by her son Michael (Marsha) Taylor; her grandchildren: Michael (Annette) Taylor and Vicky (Michael) Breaugh; her great-grandchildren: Travis Vizina, Tabitha Breaugh, Morgan Breaugh, and Michael Taylor; and her sister Vera. Gretchen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin Taylor, and her brothers Joseph and Marvin Henrich.
Visitation Monday, May 23, 2011 from 3-7 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI; and again on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 from 10 AM until funeral service at 11 AM at Comins Mennonite Church, Comins, MI, with Pastor Kevin Salsbury officiating. Interment at Clinton Township Cemetery, Comins, MI.
