Glenda Geraldine Barker

Glenda G. Barker, age 73 of Mio, Michigan, passed away at her home on Friday, January 5, 2018 .

Glenda was born in Dexter, Missouri on April 10, 1944 to LeRoy and Flora Belle (Grim) White. She graduated from Kettering High School in Waterford, MI. Glenda married Larry Barker on September 4, 1965 in Pontiac, MI. The family moved to Mio in 1983 from Romulus, MI. Glenda attended Kirtland Community College, making the Dean’s List in Special Education. She was a writer for the Kirtland newspaper, and she also wrote numerous poems and children’s books. She wrote songs as well; having 17 songs copyrighted. Glenda was a licensed minister in the Apostolic Church.

Glenda is survived by her husband Larry; her children: Larry James (Marina) Barker, Michael (Michelle) Barker, Timothy (Melody) Barker, Terry (Barb) Barker, Kevin (Holly) Barker, and Kimberly Barker; her sisters: Joyce (Tom) Jenkins of Auburn Hills, MI, and Barb (Larry) Barton of Rochester Hills, MI; her brother Bill White of Lake Orion, MI; 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in April at Kittle Hall, Mio, Michigan.
