Glen Robert Swartzendruber

Glen Robert Swartzendruber, age 55, of Fairview went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 20, 2007 after a short, but intense battle with cancer.
Visitation Saturday 3-9 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio. Funeral Service Sunday, Sept 23, 2007 at 3:00 PM at The Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastor Eldon Krider officiating. Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, MI.
Glen was born in West Branch on May 21, 1952 to Ray & Iola Swartzendruber. He was a 1970 graduate of Fairview High School, and attended Eastern Mennonite College for 2 years. After serving two years with Mennonite Central Committee on the portable meat canner, he returned to Fairview where he worked side by side with his father at the Fairview Food Market, eventually taking over the family owned business in 1987. In the fall of 2000 he was joined by his son, Daniel, and enjoyed grooming him to be his successor. The community knew Glen as a gentle, compassionate man of integrity. He enjoyed the past 33 years serving the needs of his family, his friends, and his community. He was a life long member of the Fairview Mennonite Church. Glen served on the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department, and was instrumental in starting and serving with the Oscoda County Ambulance in its Fairview location.
Surviving are his wife: Mary (Holberton) Swartzendruber of Fairview; Children: Sandra (Ryan) Meulendyk of Wyoming, Ml; Daniel and Michael Swartzendruber both of Comins; Tanya (Sergio) Komici of Santa Clara, California; Father: Ray (Goldie) Swartzendruber of Pigeon, Ml; Sister, Ruth (Paul) Ressler of Fairview and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by dear friend, Mike Hawkins of Fairview.
His mother Iola Swartzendruber preceded him in death.
