George Michael (Mike) Hawkins

Mr. George Michael (Mike) Hawkins, age 59, of Fairview, MI., passed away Thursday, March 27th, 2008 at West Branch Regional Medical Center.
Visitation Saturday, April 5th, from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 12:00 Noon at The Fairview Mennonite Church with Pastors Eldon Krider and Virgil Hershberger officiating, with prayer by Sandy Meulendyk. Military Honors offered by The US Marine Corps. Interment at Fairview Cemetery. Pall bearers: Daniel and Michael Swartzendruber, Aaron Handrich, Warren Miller, Lemuel Inis, Quincy Harris, Mike and Dan Fuhr.
Mike was born on September 1, 1948 in Mount Clemens, MI. He served in the U.S. Marines as a Sgt. in the Vietnam War. He had worked for Coca-Cola Company in New Jersey and in Engineering at General Motors in the Detroit area. Mike had 4 daughters: Tina K. Pointer Hawkins and her mother, the late Helen Pointer; Mike married Cynthia Hawkins and to their union were born, Migdalia and Keeyana Hawkins; and also Sahr Y. McKinnon and her mother Roslyn McKinnon. Mike moved to Fairview in 1983 from Detroit. He enjoyed sci-fi movies, classic cars, and listening and playing music. It was said, that he could pickup and play, most any instrument and mimic most any song.
Surviving are his mother Mary L. Hawkins of Fairview, 3 daughters, Keeyana L. Hawkins of Grand Blanc, MI, Tina K. Pointer Hawkins of Fairview, MI. and Sahr Y. McKinnon of Newark, NJ; 5 grandchildren: Joaquim, Myshon, Jayden, Mersadeis and A'Lexus; 2 aunts: Inez (Joe) and L'Nater and 1 uncle Frank; cousins: Demetrius, Terry, Bryant, Emau, Stephanie and Frank. Also surviving are his ""chosen"" sister Vicky & family; his chosen ""brothers"" and the survivors of the ""3 Amigos"": Lemuel and Quincy; his ""adopted children"": Sandy (Ryan), Daniel and Michael; his ""chosen late uncle Joe Bryant and Family, Mr. Shively, Archie Abenero, DeMarcus & daughter, his best friends Warren Miller, Dan & Mike Fuhr and Harry Gerber, his buddy Brown and his many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike's family would also like to mention his many, many dear friends, including: The Ted & Mary Handrich Family, The Nicky Bova Family, The Bonnie & Ned Wash Family, Carol Slater, Jim Slasinski, Nancy Yelland, Mike and Dan from Blair's, Ted Jr. & The Alcona Motors Family, Montez & Marie White
He was preceded in death by his father Dewitt Dean, daughter Migdalia Hawkins and cousin Cynthia. Mike is now walking side by side in peace with his best friend Glen Swartzendruber.
Mike's family would like to express their sincere apologies for any friends or family that may have been missed and to thank everyone for all their love and support.
