George G. Hartman

George G Hartman age 91 of Sebewaing formally of Mio past away Sunday, August 13, 2017 peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones
Mr. Hartman was born on February 15, 1926 to Myrtle and Burt Hartman and raised in Luzerne, Michigan. They moved to Mio where George attended Mio Schools. In 1943 George enlisted in the navy and served in the South Pacific until 1947. he married Beverly (Walker) on November 13, 1948 in Mio. George and Beverly began their life together in Detroit where he started work for Detroit Edison. They moved to a farm in Gagetown in 1951 where they raised their four children. He loved rodeos, farming, fishing, hunting, and traveling. He retired from Detroit Edison in 1983. He traveled with Beverly around North America and enjoyed many months with their friends at their beloved lot in Chokoloskee Florida. George was a member of the Mio United Methodist Church, Gagetown Methodist church, and Everglades community church. George was also a lifelong member of the Masonic order. He dedicated several years working for both the Caro police department and the Oscoda sheriffs department.
Mr. Hartman is survived by his children George B (Diana) Hartman of Hudson Florida, Tim (Diane) Hartman of Sebewaing Michigan Patti Hartman of San Diego California and Richard (Donna)Hartman of Caro Michigan. His sister-in-law Mickey Salmons of Rose City, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 2 - 8 PM with A Masonic Service at 7 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI. Funeral Services Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 11 AM also at the funeral home, with Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating. Military Honors and interment to follow at the Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio.
