Gene F. Ott

Mr. Gene F. Ott, age 64, of Mio, MI, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at his home.

Gene was born on December 24, 1946 in Whittemore, Michigan to John Henry and Exzilda (Manor) Ott.  He served his country in the U.S. Military during the Viet Nam War.  Gene was an auto mechanic who had owned his own auto repair garage-""Geneâ??s Auto Service"".  He was also the Supervisor of Transportation, Custodians, and Grounds at Mio AuSable Schools for many years until his retirement.   Gene enjoyed old cars, hunting, excavating, and woodworking.  He had raced cars when he was younger.

Gene is survived by his wife Connie; his children:  Christopher Ott, Tony (Shawn) Ott, Tim (Alicia) Ott, Gina (Denny) Kolevar, Tammy (Mike) DeWyse, Paul (Sara) Winchell, Marty (Kelly) Holladay, and Wendy Gartman; his grandchildren:  Carah, Ryan, Brayden, Wynter, Raine, Sara, Cameron, Timothy, Tyler, Emalee, Alex, Jessica, Tayler, Samantha, Nathan, Matthew, Brittany, Marty, Kaylene, Cassie, and Brandon; his brother Melvin (Ruthann) Ott; his sister Bernadine Horvath, his father-in-law Al (Judy) Travis and his beloved dog ""Buster"".  Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his 2 brothers:  Lenard and Leo Ott; and his mother-in-law Betty Wasilewski.

Visitation Monday, May 2, 2011 from 7-9 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, MI and again on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 from 1-4 and 6-9 PM, also at the Funeral Home. On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, Gene will lie in state from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Mio. Interment at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, MI, with Military Honors  offered by the Luzerne American Legion Post #162.
