Gary K. Layman, age 78 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at his daughter’s home in Curran, Michigan on Monday, April 29, 2019.

Gary was born in Fairview, Michigan on April 29, 1941 to Richard and Alice (Boerner) Layman. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. Gary worked as a tree trimmer for Townsend & Wright Tree Service and for Cooper Standard. He had faith in Jesus Christ. He enjoyed drawing, painting, attending country music and gospel festivals, hunting and fishing. Gary had a carefree spirit, and he totally enjoyed his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his children: Coral Guindon (Todd Wittum) of Curran, MI; and Kevin (Jessica) Guindon of Toledo, OH; his grandchildren: Devin (Cora) Guindon, Tiffine Guindon, Kaleb Guindon, Ryan (Leah) Blair, Brianna (Stephen) Weaver, Cody Sprague, and Megan Sprague (Mike Kitrell). He is also survived by his sister Judy Bosick of Mesa, AZ; his brother Richard Layman of Grayling, MI; his great-grandchildren: Lillyanna, Daughson, Noah, Trenten, Alivia, Levi, Mackenzie, Scarlet and Luke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: David Layman, Ron Layman, and Patricia Galbraith.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 1 PM at the Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church, Mio, Michigan, with Pastor Ron Janiszewski. officiating. Interment of ashes will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan with Military Honors offered by Luzerne American Legion Post #162.

Memorial donations may be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the March of Dimes.
