Frank W. Ellis, age 80 of Lewiston, Michigan, passed away at Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital on Sunday, January 29, 2017.
Frank was born in Mio, Michigan on February 26, 1936 to Richard and Alice (Booth) Ellis. He married Nancy Lowe on March 6, 1956 in Mio, Michigan. Frank worked as a logger and also for Fred Bear Archery in Grayling, MI and local saw mills. He had enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, mushrooming, and bird watching. He enjoyed playing chess and teaching his grandchildren the game, and was great at math. He loved teasing his grandchildren and hooking them with his cane; this affectionately earned him the nickname “Caneman” from his great-grandkids.
Frank is survived by his wife Nancy of Lewiston, MI; his children: Bill (Carol) Ellis of Saginaw, MI; Jim (Yvonne) Ellis of De Funiak Spring, FL; and Marla (Ron) Oberliesen of Luzerne, MI; his siblings: Lyle Ellis, Sherman (Lillian) Ellis, Faith Gennick, Beverly Gennick, Dan (Lila) Ellis, Frances Stutesman, Joe Ellis, and Rosie (Russ) Hoffman; 5 grandchildren: Stephanie (Nick Baldwin) Ellis, B.J. (Sara) Ellis, Frank (Carrie Hunt) Ellis, Missy Ellis, and Misty (Daniel) Deguzman; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his in-laws: Sue Ellis and Ellen Ellis; and his dog Maggie. Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson Anthony Ellis; his brothers Doug and Dave Ellis; his sister Alice Ellis; his sister-in-law Joyce Ellis; and his brothers-in-law: Willard Stutesman, Fred Gennick, and George Gennick.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
