Forrest Maynard Rhoads, age 82 of Luzerne, Michigan, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 of B Cell Lymphoma.
Forrest was born in Comins, Michigan on July 27, 1935, the fifth child of Alta (Hartzler) Rhoads and William Rhoads. He grew up in Comins, Michigan and graduated from Fairview School in 1954. After graduation, Forrest volunteered for the US Army draft and served from 1954-1956 and received an honorable discharge. He married Marjorie (Reeves) on December 28, 1955. Forrest worked in forestry after his discharge until recently, when he was unable to do the walking required by the work. He loved horses and helped lay out the Cross-State Riding Trail. He also loved snowmobiling at the family cabin in Canada until the last few years.
Forrest is survived by his wife Marjorie; a daughter: Anita Bills & son-in-law Rick Bills of Luzerne; a son: Darren Rhoads and daughter-in-law Carla Rhoads of Mio; and six grandchildren: Nycole (Jeremy) Kelly of Detroit, MI; Lindsay Bills, Ryan (Cassandra) Bills, Bradley Rhoads, and Garrett Rhoads, all of Mio, MI; and Nona Rhoads of Grand Rapids, MI.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at The Tri-Point Church of God, Mio, MI, on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
Memorial donations may be directed to Tri Point Church of God, TeliCare Hospice – Standish, Michigan, or to Lydia’s Gate.
