Floyd M. Yoder

November 23, 1920 — March 23, 2014

Floyd Melvin Yoder, 93 of Fairview, Michigan, peacefully passed away March 23, 2014 at his daughter’s home.
He was born November 23, 1920 to Daniel B. and Mable (Bleile) Yoder in Nappanee, Indiana.  He moved to Fairview, Michigan with his family in April 1936 at the age of 15.  On December 16, 1944, he married Irene Miller, who preceded him in death on May 13, 2007.  They enjoyed 62 years together.  He accepted Christ in his youth and lovingly served him all his life.  He was a member of the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church.  He was ordained a minister of the Gospel on August 17, 1952 at Fairview, Michigan and faithfully served in that capacity until 2000, when he became physically unable.
Floyd is survived by his children: Carolyn (Harry) Gerber of Fairview, MI; Jason (Doris) Yoder of Nashwauk, MN; and Rhoda (Aaron) Witmer of Goodhue, MN; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one brother Robert Yoder of Florida; two sisters:  Ethel (Virgil) Handrich and Ruth (Dennis) Sharp, both of Florida; a brother-in-law Richard Handrich of Fairview, MI; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife Irene; a sister Orpha, in infancy; siblings Betty, Wayne, and Glen, who died in a house fire in 1941; and sisters Ruby Handrich and Mary Gerber.
Visitation was 2-8 PM Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church.  Funeral services were 10 AM Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Fairview Conservative Mennonite Church with Bro. Daniel Stauffer, Bro. Barry Troyer, Bro. Wayne Gerber, and Bro. Jerry Martin officiating.  Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan.
