Mr. Ezekiel C. ""Zeke"" Popps, age 82, of Mio, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Mercy Manor in Grayling, Ml.
Visitation Friday April 18, 2008 from 1-9 P.M. at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Ml and from Noon until the time of funeral service at 1 P.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Mio Church of God with Pastor Russell Bowman of Mio New Hope Assembly of God Church officiating. Interment at Kittle Cemetery, Mio, Ml.
Mr. Popps was born to Carl S. and Florence G. (Marsh) Popps in Stoney Creek, Ml on July 12, 1925. Zeke was raised in Mio on Popps Road. He married Joyce, his childhood sweetheart, on July 19, 1946 at Mio Church of God. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage in July. He had worked as a mason for several years with his father. Zeke enjoyed crafting, woodworking and carpentry, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. He cherished times spent with them: fishing, camping, playing the guitar and singing his kids to sleep.
Mr. Popps is survived by his loving wife Joyce; his children: David (Linda) Popps of Goodrich, Ml and Beverlee (Dale) Keyser of Lansing, Ml; his sisters: Betty Hehn of Mio, Linda Rounding of Flint, Ml and Maxine (Clare) Keif of Waterford, Ml; his grandchildren: David Popps, Lisa Popps and Dustin Dale-Popps (Erin) Keyser; his great grandson Ezekiel ""Zekie"" Keyser and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Shirley Stutesman.
