Everett Vernon Scott, age 66 of Mio, MI, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at his home, on the 6th Anniversary of his son Michael Scottâ??s death.
Everett was born on February 1, 1947 in Old Town, Maine to Frederick and Marion (Thrasher) Scott, Sr.. He graduated in 1965 from Old Town High School. Everett joined the US Navy in 1966, and served in Vietnam and during the Isreali Air Crisis. Everett attended A.E.A. School in Florida and was attached to the US Saratoga as an aviation electrician. He served for 2 years with the SeaBees in the construction battalion. He married Judith ""Matthews"" Scott on December 16, 1967 in Old Town, Maine. The couple lived for a year in Woodbury, New Jersey. Everett served 2 years in the Mediterranean and then was discharged in Roto, Spain in December of 1969. They returned to Old Town, Maine; later moving to Monroe, MI, while Everett was working for the Enrico Fermi Nuclear Power Plant. He was a Master Electrician with the I.B.E.W. Local Union 1253, he worked in Detroit, Toledo, and Ann Arbor; retiring in 2009 from Huron Valley Electric of Ann Arbor, MI. They settled in Mio in 2001 to Everettâ??s dream house on Perry Lake. He was a member of the American Trap League Association and the Lewiston Sportsman Club. He was active as an electrician for the Norâ??Easter Music and Arts Festival. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife Judith Scott; his daughter Kathleen Ann (Scott) Calloway of Lambertville, MI; his grandchildren: Michael Scott, Tiffany Scott, Scottie Calloway, and Sara Calloway; and his great grandchildren: Ellie, Ryker, Logan, Dawson, and Payton Scott. He is also survived by his sister Darlene (David) Rairdon of New Limerick, Maine; his brother Frederick L. (Kelly) Scott, Jr. of Old Town, Maine; brother-in-law Jacques (Tammy) Matthews; sister-in-law Janice (David) Trefethen; his special friends Ben Lauf and the extended Perry Lake Family; his special dog ""Weebie""; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Michael V. Scott.
In accordance with Everettâ??s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2013 from 11 AM- 2 PM with a Memorial Service beginning at 2 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan with Pastor Ben Fulayter officiating. Military Honors will be offered by the Mio VFW Post # 4126.
