Ernest L. Kelch, Jr.

Ernest L. "Coonhunter" Kelch, Jr., age 55 of Mio, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, September 6, 2018.

Ernie was born in Port Huron, Michigan on April 25, 1963 to Ernest Leroy and Alvina (Garska) Kelch. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1981 and served his country in the US Army. Ernie enjoyed running coon hounds, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and hanging out with family and friends. Most of all, he loved making people laugh.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rita Ann Kelch of Mio, MI; his mother Alvina Jean Kelch of Port Huron, MI; his children: Ernest III, Amanda, Steven, and Nicholas; his grandchildren: Tanner Reckart, Leon Kelch, and Zayla Kelch; and his brothers and sisters: Ranae "Rae" Dallas, Rodney "Rod" Kelch, Kimberly "Sis" Spencer (Rick Ostrander), and Kelly Kelch. He is also survived by his in-laws: Leon & Nancy Olson; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ernie was preceded in death by his father: Ernest Leroy Kelch, Sr., his son Joshua Aaron Kelch, and his daughter Amber Renee Kelch.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
