Emma Jean Hendrick

January 18, 1925 — April 19, 2019

Emma Jean Hendrick, age 94 of St. Ignace, Michigan, formerly of Mio, Michigan, passed away at Evergreen Living Center in St. Ignace, Michigan on Friday, April 19, 2019.

Emma Jean was born in Flint, Michigan on January 18, 1925 to Clarence and Eva (Frick) Barron. As part of the war effort, she worked for AC Spark Plug in Flint, making parts for aircraft and machine guns. On February 23, 1945, she married William A. Hendrick at the Asbury Methodist Church in Flint. Emma Jean was a homemaker and also a bus driver for Grand Blanc Schools, retiring in 1978 after 15 years of service. After her retirement in 1978, she moved to Mio, Michigan. Emma Jean was an avid bowler, playing on Walker’s League. She loved the Detroit Tigers. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, knitting, hunting, and spending time with her husband Bill and with her grandkids.

Emma Jean is survived by her children: Lawrence (Chrys) Hendrick of Marquette, MI, and Catherine Hendrick of Mio, MI; 7 grandchildren: Jane, Will, Leah, Jay, Bekah, Melissah, and Teddy; 18 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces and nephews, and several grandnieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Clarence & Eva Barron; her husband Bill Hendrick; and her siblings: George (Jean) Barron, Ilah (Milo) Turnpaugh, and Ann (Robert) Clark.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 4 PM at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan, with Pastor Daniel Williams officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint, Michigan.

Memorial donations may be made to the Recreation Department of Evergreen Living Center, 1140 N. State Street, St. Ignace, Michigan 49781.
