Ellsworth E. Handrich

Ellsworth Handrich, age 93 of Fairview, Michigan, passed away at The Home at Wellspring Lutheran Services on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
Ellsworth was born in Fairview, Michigan on July 3, 1921 to Arnold and Fay (Hopkins) Handrich. He graduated from Fairview High School. He married Mary Alice (Layman) Handrich on June 27, 1943 at the Fairview Mennonite Church. He worked as a dairy farmer, and later as a real estate broker for United Farm Agency. Ellsworth served as Comins Township Treasurer for 25 years, retiring in 2008. He was a lifetime member of the Fairview Mennonite Church, where he served as Deacon for 35 years, remaining involved in church activities all of his life. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, cutting wood, woodworking, rug weaving, and traveling.
Surviving are his children: Sandra Fay (Roy) Yoder of Bally, PA; Sharyn Diane (Marple) Smith of Fairview, MI; Sally Jo (Kees) Dalmeijer of The Netherlands; Fredric (Gloria) Handrich of Fairview, MI; and George (Debbie) Handrich of Hawthorne, CA; his 10 grandchildren: Tonya Yoder, Dione (Yoder) McDonald, Dane Dalmeijer, Lauren (Smith) Ubaldo, Sarah Dalmeijer, Hannah Dalmeijer, Megan (Smith) Andedo, Cody Handrich, Jesse Handrich, and Evan Handrich; his great-grandchildren: Madeline Elizabeth McDonald, Adelain Merlin Dalmeijer, Hayden Presley Lacey Dalmeijer, Finley James Madison Dalmeijer, Marissa Kate McDonald, Hailee Lynn Handrich, and Ezra Amani Andedo (called Little Jake). He was preceded in death by his parents, his “Sweetheart” Mary Alice in 2011, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 1PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, Michigan, with Funeral Services beginning at 1 PM with Art O’Dell and Roy Yoder officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Michigan.
Memorial donations may be made to The Compassion Fund at Fairview Mennonite Church.
