Ellen Schrock

Mrs. Ellen Schrock, age 96, of Fairview, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2010, at the Home at AuSable Valley Community in Fairview.
Ellen was born on the Esch family farm in Mio, Michigan on September 22, 1913, daughter of the late Menno and Nettie (Yoder) Esch.  She was baptized in 1923 at the Fairview Mennonite Church.  Ellen married Era S. Troyer on June 2, 1940.  He preceded her in death on August 7, 1961.  She later married Pastor Tobias Schrock on May 29, 1965.  The couple lived in Clarksville, Michigan, and Ellen became a member of the Bowne Mennonite Church there.  Her husband Tobias passed away on October 21, 1980.  Ellen lived in Clarksville for a time, until she returned to Oscoda County in May of 2007 to live at AuSable Valley Community.  She enjoyed quilting and sewing her donations for the annual Relief Sale.
Ellen is survived by her son Melvin ""Jake"" (Anna Joy) Troyer of Hesston, KS; her stepchildren:  Orie, Edward, Mae, and Martha; 2 granddaughters: Michele Troyer of Tucson, AZ; and Chelsea Toevs of Lawrence, KS; 29 step grandchildren; her 2 great-grandchildren: Olivia Toevs and Mason Toevs; 92 step great-grandchildren; 76 step great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Deceased family members include:  her parents; her husbands Era Troyer and Pastor Tobias Schrock; an infant son; her stepchildren Oscar and Mary; 3 sisters:  Lily, Esther, and Velma; and 4 brothers:  Reuben, Chriss, Claude, and Ira (who passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010).
Visitation Wednesday, May 12, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Lashley Funeral Home, Mio, Michigan; and again from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, Fairview, Michigan with Pastor Eldon Krider officiating.  Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Fairview.
