Elizabeth A. Wideman

d. July 16, 2010

Elizabeth Anne (Waters) Wideman, was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.  She was born December 7, 1937 and passed away on July 16, 2010 in the morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Beatrice (Munro) Waters and brother Michael Waters.  She is survived by her husband Howard, her five children, and their spouses (Howard and Robyn Wideman, Charles and Joyce Wideman, Philip Wideman, Mark and Mary Hargrove, Alan and Angie Wideman).  She enjoyed her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by four sisters: Evolyn Smithson, Shirley LaBreck, Eleanor Flint, and Marion Provost.  Serving Christ as a faithful wife and mother, she dearly loved her family.  For around thirty years she served as cook for Camp Barakel and was affectionately known by thousands as ""Mama Liz.""   A member of Five Points Community Church of Auburn Hills, she and Howard were commissioned as missionaries to serve at Camp Barakel in 1969.  Prior to serving at Camp Barakel she was active in church ministry singing in the choir, teaching and leading Junior Church and Vacation Bible School .  Throughout her life, she loved music and especially enjoyed whenever her family was around to sing and play piano.

The family greatly appreciates the many thoughts and prayers that have been offered over the course of this long journey and for the supportive care of Heartland Hospice.  Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to either Camp Barakel or Heartland Hospice.  Viewing will be at the Lashley Funeral Home in Mio on Sunday, July 18 from (1-5 and 6-8:30p.m), and on Monday, July 19 from 9:30-10:30a.m. at the Fairview Mennonite Church .  A service and committal will immediately follow the Monday viewing and will be conducted by Rev. Brent Nelson of Five Points Community Church .
