Elizabeth "Betty" L. Knauf

Elizabeth Lucille (Betty) Knauf, age 89, of Mio, MI, passed away at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Sunday, October 14, 2018.

Elizabeth was born in Bay City, Michigan on August 7, 1929, a daughter of the late Lura Maude (McCormack) and Dudley Dunk Palmer.

Betty lived in the Mio and Luzerne areas all her life. She graduated from Mio High School class of 1947 and attended Michigan State University. Betty had worked for Mio AuSable Schools in the kitchen and later, as a secretary and also worked as a secretary for Oscoda County Housing Commission. Betty was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching, cooking, camping, bluegill fishing, garage saling, antiquing and always loved 'doing for others".

Surviving are her husband Edward E. Knauf; children: Brian Chicha (Rose Stutesman) of Williamsburg, MI, Craig (Tavia) Chicha of Fairview, MI and Linda (Jay) Jagiello of Mio, MI. Grandchildren: Tiffany Ralph, Mike Chicha, Chris Chicha, Jennifer Chicha, Maelynn Watrous and Lydia MacIntyre; 11 great grand children, one expected great grandchild and her sister Sue Schramm of Luzerne. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Lena Palmer, brother Bob Palmer and sister Charlotte Avery.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Remembrance Gathering will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Skyline Event Center, 3309 Abbe Road, Comins, MI 48619.

Memorials may me made to The Oscoda County Library, to promote early childhood literacy, 430 8th St. Mio, MI 48647, or pick a day and "pay it forward" for someone, in Betty's Memory.
