Elizabeth "Bette" M. Hardy

Elizabeth (Bette) M. Hardy,age 95, of Mio, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at her home in Mio.
Bette was born in Clinton, Indiana, on August 15, 1926, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (McLeish) Durnian. She is survived by her son, Michael Hardy, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles (Chuck) J. Hardy and her sister, Mary A. Smith.
Her family moved from Indiana to Detroit where she worked for General Motors at Detroit City Airport. Her young family moved to Luzerne in 1957 to open the doors of the Lost Creek Sky Ranch. She loved raising her sons there, where horseback riding, fishing, birding – anything outdoors, was at their fingertips. She also ran the “Flying R Pizza Bar”, and a very successful Xmas Wreath business. Bette loved people, and everyone that knew her, loved her – like a mom, sister or best friend rolled into one wonderful person. Everyone she met could sense her kindness and open heart, knowing they had a found a good friend.
In accordance with Bette's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation Friday, February 25, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mio from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, with recitation of the Rosary at 10:30. The Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the Mass. Interment of ashes at Mentor Township Cemetery in the spring.
Memorial may be made to the needs of the family.
