Elaine Annette (Kann) Long, age 91, of Zephyrhills, FL, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Gulfside Center for Hospice Care in Zephyrhills.
Elaine (Kann) (Hyatt) Long was born to Rosella & Edward Schimanske on May 20, 1923 in Detroit, Michigan. Elaine married Bernard Kann on May 8, 1943. They moved to Red Oak, Michigan in 1947, where she raised 7 sons and 1 step-son. Elaine worked as a waitress and for the Roscommon State Bank in Mio. She then went on to Kirtland Community College where she received her cosmetology certificate in 1972. After the death of her first husband Bernard Kann in 1981, Elaine moved back to Florida where she met her second husband, John Hyatt in 1984, and had 15 wonderful years until his passing in 1999. In 2001, she married Paul Long and lived between Zephyrhills, FL and Merritt, MI until her passing.
Elaine was preceded in death by her first husband, Bernard Kann; her second husband John Hyatt; her sister Ruth Johnson; and her brother Daniel Schimanske.
Elaine leaves behind her husband of 11 years, Paul Long; 2 brothers: Richard (Lorna) and Roger (Irine) Keebaugh; 7 sons: Thomas (Kathy), Dennis (Barb), William (Renee), Jack (Janet), Michael (Debbie), Terry, and David; 2 step-sons: Bernard (Lucienne) Kann and David Long; 4 step-daughters: Linda Finch, Helen Long, Cathy Eavis, and Sherry Long; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Visitation 1:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, Oct 3, 2014 at the Lashley Funeral Home, Mio and on Saturday, Oct.4, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11:00 AM at The Mio United Methodist Church with Mr. Jack Kann and Pastor Brenda Klacking officiating, Interment at Mentor Township Cemetery, Mio, MI.
